About The Class
Today, we have a plethora of evidence to prove the benefits of exercise and mindfulness. So, why is it usually difficult to meet the needs of both? The answer is simple, you have a life, in a busy society where imbalance is the norm. The majority of “workouts” in the world today are narrow minded in their approach to the body. The truth is, there is no ONE way to feel healthy and happy. It’s about find a balance, YOUR balance.
Raising Your Barre is a whole new way of being a healthier, happier you. Class is 45 minutes long and begins with a grounding warm up to wake up the body, breath, and mind. Next, at the barre, we put on ankle and arm weights. Barre exercises are influenced by many different techniques including: Ballet, Pilates, HIIT, Yoga, Gyrokinesis, and more. As with all the aforementioned techniques, form and placement are key. Our small class size allows individualized attention to ensure you get the most out of each class. Each set at the barre is designed to target specific muscle groups and made up of reps designed to exhaust them. The scientific benefits of which include targeted breakdown of muscle fibers and release of stored fat. This allows the muscles to heal and grow stronger and the body to turn stored fat into energy again. The same theory is applied to the rest of class which includes center work with a Ubarre and mat work based in pilates. Class always finishes with a stretch to lengthen the muscles, release lactic acid, and come back to a grounded head space.
So, we know how this class will improve overall health and strength, but how does it bring happiness? There’s the simple answer, to quote Legally Blonde, “Exercise releases endorphins, endorphins make you happy, happy people don’t kill their husbands, they just don’t.” That answer applies to all physical exercise though, and Raising Your Barre takes this a step further. Each set at the barre is made up of a different combination of movements and each class is made up of new sets. This gives your brain a workout, just as much as your body. Learning new things and stimulating the brain is one of the best ways to find longer lasting happiness. The building of new neural pathways associated with releasing endorphins, achieving goals, and maintaining a present state of mind, can actually rewire your brain to be happier. Get Happy. Get Healthy. Get Strong.
