Who We Are

A Studio Designed for Clarity, Confidence, and Consistency

At Raising Your Barre, we offer a refined approach to movement—one that prioritizes clarity, intention, and lasting strength.

Our method blends ballet-based alignment, Pilates conditioning, and mindful strength work to help you feel more connected to your body and confident in how you move. Rather than fast-paced, overwhelming workouts, we focus on precision, control, and thoughtful progression—so you can build strength in a way that feels sustainable and deeply supportive.

Every class is guided with clear, attentive instruction, emphasizing alignment, breath, and awareness. You’ll move with purpose, understanding not just what to do, but how and why it matters. Over time, this creates a sense of stability, ease, and quiet confidence that carries well beyond the studio.

Our space is intentionally calm, beautiful, and welcoming—designed for adult women who are seeking more than just a workout. Whether you’re returning to movement, stepping into ballet for the first time, or deepening your Pilates practice, you’ll find an environment that feels encouraging, elevated, and consistent.

Located in Atlanta, Raising Your Barre supports the way you live in your body every day—through improved posture, mobility, and strength that feels both graceful and strong. Discover why Rachel created the motto Get Happy, Get Healthy, Get Strong.

About Rachel English

Rachel English, a retired professional ballet dancer and Atlanta native, is the creator of The English Method™, a signature barre system rooted in alignment, precision, and mindful strength. Drawing from her years of performance experience, Rachel has developed a method that emphasizes steady progress, refined technique, and a deeper awareness of the body.

Founded in 2019 as a coaching practice for pre-professional dancers, Raising Your Barre expanded in 2020 when she opened an online ballet school as well, allowing students to stay in shape at home.

Wanting to stay in shape herself, Rachel began to develop a streamlined barre workout, mixing in other disciplines like pilates and HIIT. After sharing with a few friends, she realized this could be a way to share the benefits of ballet as exercise. So much of the knowledge she gained throughout the highs and lows of her training and career, is applicable to everyone.

Her teaching style is both elevated and supportive—designed specifically for adult women. Each class is carefully structured to improve posture, build lean strength, and cultivate confidence through movement that feels intentional and intelligent.

What We Believe

Technique Matters
Precise alignment, breath, and clear, thoughtful cueing are the foundation of every class.

Movement Should Support You
We prioritize sustainability and long-term strength over intensity for its own sake.

Adults Deserve Beautiful, Encouraging Spaces
Our studio is calm, welcoming, and designed to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive.

Consistency Creates Transformation
Progress happens through steady, intentional practice—not extremes.

Awareness Builds Confidence
We teach you to understand your body, so you can move with clarity, control, and trust.

Our Classes

IllumeLab English
Method Intro

Whether you're brand new to The English Method or craving a back-to-basics refresh, this class is where your movement journey begins. We’ll focus on clean alignment, intentional muscle activation, and building real connection between your mind and body.

Our IllumeLab class walks you through all of the details of an English Method class. From what weights to use & combinations at the barre to where the laundry bins are - this is your time to ask questions and build confidence before your first English Method class.

The English Method 1 & 2

The English Method 1: Foundations

WEEK 1. Rooted deeply in ballet technique & Pilates, The English Method is known as the most ballet-based barre workout out there—no prior dance experience needed, just a little coordination and curiosity. The class evolves every two weeks, progressively building in challenge from week 1 to week 2. We ALWAYS recommend taking the IllumeLab Intro before starting The English Method.

English Method I is the first week of a class cycle. We will go through combinations, form, and intention to ensure you are ready for week 2.  The class structure moves you through warm up, barre exercises, mat pilates, & finishes with a short stretch and aromatherapy moment. Leaving you balanced, strong, and recharged.

The English Method 2: Elevé

WEEK 2. English Method II is the second week of a class cycle. This means we are moving at a faster pace and have added more combinations and core exercises to the class. We will spend less time on learning the combinations and more time on individual correction. We recommend only taking this class if you are already comfortable with The English Method or have taken
The English Method I.

Stretch & Somatic Release

Lengthen, release, and reconnect with your body. This gentle, restorative class blends deep, guided stretching with mindful somatic movements and breathwork to ease tension, improve mobility, and cultivate awareness of how your body moves and feels. Perfect for recovery, stress relief, and leaving your body feeling open, aligned, and renewed.

Ballet: Foundations

Beginner Adult Ballet: Have fun, learn something new, and discover the art of ballet in a supportive, empowering space. This foundational class introduces classical technique with a focus on posture, alignment, and musicality, guiding you through barre and center work to build strength, grace, and confidence.

Ballet 2: Elevé

Intermediate/Advanced Adult Ballet: Refine your technique and elevate your artistry in a faster-paced class with more complex combinations. Ballet II strengthens balance, fluidity, and overall technique, offering a challenging yet encouraging experience that leaves you feeling strong, expressive, and connected to the joy of movement.

Pilates 1 & 2

Pilates I

All levels. Move with ease and intention. This class blends core-strengthening exercises with deep, mindful stretching to increase flexibility, release tension, and leave you feeling balanced and renewed.

Pilates II

Intermediate/Advanced. Designed to elevate both body and mind for those ready to advance their Pilates work. This class incorporates flowing sequences, deeper core engagement, and balance challenges.

Myofascial Release & Bodywork

All Levels. Learn to release the fascia — the connective web that supports your body — with guided techniques and specialized tools restoring balance, fluidity, and ease in a practice of deep care and support.

Hypermobility Lab

If you’re naturally flexible, you may have been praised for your range of motion, but without proper support, that flexibility can lead to instability, discomfort, or injury.

Hypermobility Lab shifts the focus from stretching deeper to strengthening smarter. Through slow, controlled movements and intentional muscle activation, you’ll learn how to support your joints, improve proprioception, and create stability from the inside out. Expect low-impact strength work, mindful alignment cues, and a deeper understanding of how your body moves.

This is not about pushing your limits, it’s about refining them. You’ll leave feeling stronger, more supported, and more connected to your body in a way that lasts far beyond class.
